The draft government decree on the start of the experiment on labeling shoes published on the portal regulation.gov.ru. According to the document, the test marking of shoes in the Russian Federation will begin on June 1 2018 and last until December 31 2018.
The purpose of the experiment is to check whether labeling will help combat the illegal import, production and trafficking of shoes in Russia, as well as increase the collection of customs and tax payments. On a voluntary basis, manufacturers, importers of shoes and sellers of shoes will participate in the experiment.
It is assumed that a unified system of product labeling will work since 2024, and Rostec will become its operator. According to the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will develop a road map that "will ensure the implementation of the national marking system by 2024 throughout the entire range of industrial products."
