American designer Tom Ford has decided to cancel the Tom Ford Fall/Winter'22 show scheduled for February 16, the last day of New York Fashion Week, citing the impact the Covid-19 pandemic will have on business and production.
Recent outbreaks that have affected countries around the world have affected the performance of the employees of his design studio and atelier in Los Angeles, and also provoked the closure of factories in Italy. Images of the new collection will be published later in digital format, the date of the presentation will be announced in the coming weeks.
"I'm incredibly disappointed that I can't present the show during New York Fashion Week as I firmly believe that a live show is the best way to get the message across for the season," said Ford, who is also chairman of the Council of Fashion Designers of America. Designers of America (CFDA), in a CFDA statement. “Over the past month, we have had internal difficulties, with many of our employees in our design studio and atelier, as well as in factories in Italy, being out of work due to Covid. We tried everything we could to avoid canceling our show in New York, but ended up with the sad fact that we simply wouldn't have the collection ready in time…."
