Top-20 European fashion brands are interested in the Belarusian market

The choice in the shopping centers of Minsk within two to three years should be as close as possible to the European level, experts say.

The past year was a year of recovery for the retail trade and services sector in Belarus, experts of the international consulting company Colliers International, Belarus stated, presenting their annual review of the commercial real estate market. Thus, in relation to the crisis of 2009, the country's retail trade turnover increased by 17,1% in national currency and by 25,4% in euros, amounting to 17,6 billion euros.

“The capital's retail real estate market has attracted a lot of attention from both existing network operators and new ones,” said Mikhail Morozov, managing partner of the company in the Baltic States and Belarus. “And already this year we will see the arrival of new brands in the fashion segment, which, noticing such dynamics, especially against the background of neighboring countries, make a positive decision to enter the market. They are already negotiating to conclude lease agreements for retail space or are planning to start building their own super- and hypermarkets.

True, despite the high demand in the trading segment, the existing supply in it is still very limited. Especially when it comes to the most popular modern trading formats for large trading operators.

“Quality shopping centers in Minsk can be counted on the fingers of one hand,” emphasizes Mikhail Morozov.

So, according to Colliers International, Belarus, in the 2010 year in Minsk, 8 shopping centers and complexes with a developed trading part with a total area of 59 thousand square meters were commissioned. meters. The market has already announced the entry of 10-ti retail facilities, the total area of which will already exceed 78 thousand square meters. meters. The most anticipated will be the opening of a multifunctional complex with the working name "Central Bus Station", whose developer is BNK Engineering. As part of this project, a shopping and entertainment center will be opened, along with the appearance of which many new brands will come to the “fashionable” segment of metropolitan trade. Which ones - basically remains a trade secret.

“If we talk about the interest of international fashion retailers in Belarusian projects, today the Spanish group INDITEX takes an active position, one of the many brands of which is the famous Zara. We hope that we will see the first store already this or next year, - Mikhail Morozov shared. “As for the other major retailers, we can say that the first“ twenty ”of European brands, which are represented in Russia, Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, are beginning to show interest in Belarus.”

The choice in the shopping centers of Minsk within two to three years should be as close as possible to the European level in recruiting professional tenants. “I’m talking not only about the operators who buy franchising, but also about the parent companies that will come here on their own,” says the managing partner of Colliers International, Belarus. - This is the path that has already been traveled in Russia, where over the past five to seven years franchising has also been issued, and now they are already taking over the management of ready-made stores. This is the scenario that will be implemented in Belarus as professional shopping and entertainment centers of modern formats are built. ” About this writes the Belarusian site realty.ej.by
