According to the Federal State Statistics Service, in January-May of 2013, retail sales in Russia amounted to 8 trillion 977,3 billion rubles, which is at comparable prices by 3,8% more than in the corresponding period of 2012.
In May, turnover increased by 2,9% - up to 1 trillion 892,5 billion rubles. At 90,7%, it was formed by trading organizations and individual entrepreneurs working outside the market. The share of retail markets and fairs amounted to 9,3%. In May last year, these indicators were 89,7% and 10,3%, respectively. Trading organizations in May this year sold 1 trillion 717,2 billion rubles worth of goods, which is 4,2% more than last May. Sales of goods in retail markets and fairs decreased by 7,9% - to 175,3 billion rubles. Over the 5 months of this year, sales of trading organizations increased by 5%, retail markets decreased by 6,5%.
