The trend of shifting the demand of retailers from Moscow facilities to regional projects has intensified. The reason for this, SARicci clarifies, is the lack of new construction and, as a result, the high level of competition among retail operators for premises in high-quality shopping centers.
In the first half of 2012, only two large shopping centers were put into operation in Moscow - the EGO mall and a shopping gallery as part of the Moscow hotel. The total area of the commissioned shopping centers was 46 sq. M, the leasable area was 200 sq. M.
The expansion of retail chains into the regional market also continues. In addition to cities with millionaires, the focus of attention of trading operators is now on with cities with a population of less than 500 000 people.
During the first half of 2012, more than 65 000 sq. M of retail space was leased (shopping centers and street retail).
The most active tenants of retail space in Moscow were clothing stores, DIY-operators, hypermarkets and children's goods, retailer.ru reports.
