The Russian startup that developed the TRY.FIT device (three-dimensional scanner and mobile application), with which you can scan the foot and get its 3D model, developed according to 12 parameters, attracted investments to place its device in 100 shoe stores.
Startup Try.Fit appeared in 2016. Initially, the developers of the new device hoped to lease it to retail shoe stores, but later this idea was abandoned. At this stage, scanners are provided to retailers free of charge. In Russia, Try.Fit scanners are already available in Econika, Ralf Ringer, Decathlon and Intersport stores.
For example, in the Econika chain the Try.Fit scanner is installed in one store. The buyer can go to the salon, scan the foot and get a 3D model of his foot for free. With the help of these parameters, sellers will select a pair “by foot” for the buyer, and the buyer will save the parameters of his stop in the Try.Fit mobile application. He can easily make the next purchase in the online store of the brand, taking into account the saved parameters, and purchase shoes that fit perfectly. According to the founder of Try.Fit Vahan Martirosyan, in the case of the first purchase of shoes in the salon, the Try.Fit service does not make any money, but in the case of subsequent purchases online, taking into account the parameters determined by Try.Fit, the service will receive a commission of 5% of the purchase price.
For the system to work, the retailer must have the parameters of the shoes of the models presented in his store. The process of model monitoring takes a little time when it comes to the branded retail of a shoe manufacturer, since in this case, in order to determine the parameters of a particular shoe model, it is enough to digitize the pads that the manufacturer has in stock.
However, according to Vagan Martirosyan, Try.Fit technology showed great interest in multi-brand stores, which presented a large selection of shoes of different brands. These retailers do not have pads of models that they sell.
In this case, Try.Fit suggested defining the standards of a particular model of a particular brand using technology based on artificial intelligence. To achieve the most accurate result, the store encourages its visitors to participate in the project, during which the visitors go through the procedure of scanning the foot with the Try.Fit device directly in the store and measure several models of different brands that are suitable in size. Their feedback on the convenience of a particular model is recorded in the system. A large amount of such data makes it possible to form an average model of the last of a particular shoe model, in order to recommend or not recommend it to the consumer in the future when making online sales.
Thus, using Try.Fit technology, an online retailer can significantly reduce the percentage of shoe return on online sales.
Having installed its scanners in 100 shoe stores, the startup is planning to collect data on 1 million feet of Russian citizens.
