Shoe retailer Tsentrobuv last year became the absolute leader in terms of revenue in Russia among operators of its segment, according to the rating of Russian retail chains compiled by Infoline and Retailer Magazine. Until now, this position in Russia was held by the German group Adidas.
According to Rosstat, retail trade turnover in Russia in 2011 amounted to 19,075 trillion rubles. (+ 7,2% in the commodity mass by 2010). Of these, food retail accounted for 9,1 trillion rubles, the remaining 9,9 trillion rubles - for trade in non-food goods. In the rating of the 30 largest players in the retail market in terms of revenue, the number of grocery and non-grocery chains is equal, follows from the top 30, compiled by Infoline agency and Retailer Magazine. Last year, these players accounted for 2,38 trillion rubles in the overall structure of retail trade, or almost 12,5%.
The rating of the companies that were the fastest growing retail chains included "Tsentrobuv" (an increase of 49,3%, to 227 thousand sq. M.).
Tsentrobuv also became the second largest retailer in terms of revenue growth, entering the top 30 list for the first time. The operator's sales grew by 58,4% to RUB 29,3 billion, which made it possible to overtake the former leader in the footwear segment, the German sports goods retailer Adidas, which, according to estimates, earned RUB 27,4 billion in Russia. The head of "Tsentrobuvi" Andrey Nesterov believes that the chain was helped by well-built logistics (the company's stores are located from the border with the European Union to Japan) and the correct pricing policy. “We determine it based on the needs of consumers, and not on the basis of our cost,” he said.
