In the first half of 2022, the number of outlets officially selling shoes increased by 19% across the country compared to the same period last year, including in Moscow - by 3%, in St. Petersburg - by 11%. This is evidenced by the aggregated depersonalized data of the OFD Platform IT company, the country's largest operator of fiscal data, which processes data from more than 1,1 million online cash registers in the country.
The volume of sales of all footwear in physical terms (in pieces) increased by 15% in the Russian Federation, mainly due to the “whitewashing” of regional trade. However, as a result of the departure of a number of foreign brands in the spring of this year, in Moscow the official turnover decreased by 30%, in St. Petersburg - by 15% (the situation with foreign players manifested itself to a greater extent in megacities).
The average purchase receipt for shoes in the first half of 2022 in the Russian Federation amounted to 2229 rubles, 4% higher than last year. In Moscow it was at the level of 3910 rubles (13% higher than last year), in St. Petersburg - 2970 rubles (6% higher than last year).
According to the Chestny Znak National Digital Marking System, the most expensive pair sold during this period was a product of the French brand made of crocodile leather, bought in Moscow for 3 rubles.
“Digital marking creates equal conditions for competition for all market players, providing the end customer with the opportunity to purchase a quality product. We note that since the start of shoe labeling in 2019, the number of sellers leaving the “gray” zone for the “white” one has been increasing every year. Stores in the regions and online sellers demonstrate the greatest activity in this direction, which have increased many times over the year. It is obvious that labeling and the associated electronic document management system today set the pace for the digitalization of all Russian trade,” said Dmitry Afanasiev, director of product for the mass market of IT-company OFD Platform.
According to the head of the Obuv commodity group of the Center for Advanced Technologies Development Anna Petrushina, Russians most often doubt the authenticity of footwear products, out of more than 88 million checks of goods using the Chestny ZNAK system, footwear accounts for 33%. In total, the Honest Sign application has been installed by more than 7 million users.
