Uzbekistan introduced opportunities for leather production in the country

On May 26, Uzbekistan hosted the First International Specialized Exhibition “Leather and Shoes. Uzbekistan - 2011 ".

It was attended by over 60 companies from about ten countries. The exhibition featured women's, men's, children's, sports, domestic shoes, as well as leather and leather products - clothes and bags.

“Uzbekistan is rich in high-quality leather raw materials,” said André Silva, executive director of the Portuguese company Plamitoi. - We intend to establish mutually beneficial cooperation with local leather processing enterprises. Our company produces shoes for children and adults, exports it to more than forty countries. ”

It should be noted that in the 2010 year, enterprises in Uzbekistan exported leather goods and finished shoes to China, Pakistan and Turkey. 12 million pairs of shoes were produced for the domestic market. Among the entities operating in the field there are also many private enterprises. So, at the Dambog shoe factory in the Namangan region in 2010, 48 thousand pairs of shoes were produced. If in 2003 year in the field of leather processing in the country there were 3 enterprises, today there are more than twenty of them.
