In 2017, the volume of export of shoes and leather goods in Uzbekistan amounted to $ 105 million. This figure has grown more than eight times over the past seven years, ”said Sputnik Uzbekistan with reference to the Uzbekcharmpoyabzali association.
This result was achieved by creating new production sites and increasing the volume of production, as well as by expanding the geography of supplies.
According to preliminary forecasts, the volume of footwear production in Uzbekistan by the end of 2017 will amount to 10,2 million pairs. Currently Uzbekistan exports footwear to China, Pakistan, Turkey, India, Kazakhstan, Korea, Italy, Spain and the UK.
China ranks first in the list of importers of leather and footwear products in Uzbekistan, its share in the total export of footwear and leather goods of this country is 40%. In second place is Turkey, with a share of 16% and Russia - 8%.
Currently, there are more than 400 enterprises in Uzbekistan specializing in the processing of leather raw materials, the production of finished leather, footwear and leather goods. The Uzbekcharmpoyabzali Association, established in 2000, unites over 100 enterprises.
