In 2012, a shoe holding is planned to be created in Belarus

The shoe holding is planned to be created in Belarus during 2012, the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Russian Federation reports with reference to the statement of Gennady Vyrko, chairman of the Bellegprom concern.

The creation of the holding is aimed at increasing the production of footwear in the country by 2016 by 2,5 times against the level of 2010, up to about 29 million pairs per year. An important task is to ensure a positive balance of foreign trade in footwear, stressed Gennady Vyrko. With the help of the new structure, it is planned to significantly expand the sales markets and the range of footwear.

It is not yet determined which exact enterprises will be part of the holding and how many there will be. According to Gennady Vyrko, foreign enterprises may also be part of the holding. In particular, one of the Polish companies is now showing interest.

The chairman of the Bellegprom concern informed that the demand of the domestic market for footwear in the republic is about 30 million pairs of shoes per year, the Russian market - about 450-500 million pairs. “We and Russia produce about 40 million pairs,” he said, noting the presence of great potential for the development of the footwear industry.

Gennady Vyrko said that the capital's footwear manufacturer Luch also officially became a holding this month.
