Penza plans to develop light industry

Penza discussed prospects for the development of the clothing and footwear industries. The regional government expressed its readiness to provide comprehensive support to industry enterprises: subsidizing bank rates for the purchase of new equipment, allocating space for production, organizing workshops from leading world fashion designers for local specialists.

In order to find out the specific needs of clothing and footwear manufacturers, it was decided to create a working expert group with the participation of representatives of light industry enterprises. Its members will develop a regional program to support this type of entrepreneurship in order to help businesses expand their assortment and increase production volumes.

One of the main problems in the industry is the lack of qualified personnel. It is proposed to create a cluster of enterprises as an effective method for solving this issue.

“This will help to jointly participate in presentations and exhibitions outside the region, organize wholesale deliveries of our products, train personnel for production, participate in auctions for government orders,” Governor Vasily Bochkarev said.

He also suggested holding a Penza fashion festival, where manufacturers could exchange experiences, find new business contacts and take part in seminars and trainings. Presumably, the festival will be held in the spring of 2015.

Despite the difficult economic situation, the light industry of the Penza region showed growth last year. Thus, the index of industrial production in the textile and clothing industry for the 2014 year amounted to 123%.
