A record number of brands came to St. Petersburg

Retailers focus on modern shopping malls. 2013 became a record year in terms of the volume of commissioning of retail real estate over the past seven years. In January-December, the market increased by 346 thousand square meters. meters and reached 2,5 million square meters. m in high-quality shopping centers.

In St. Petersburg in 2013, the majority of new brand stores were opened in the already proven Stockmann Nevsky Center shopping center, as well as in the Galereya shopping and entertainment center. Among the newly opened complexes, the leader in the number of debuts was the Pearl Plaza shopping and entertainment center.

“The Russian market is undoubtedly interesting for international chains. Most often, after opening in Moscow, and, in some cases at the same time, tenants are considering placing a store in St. Petersburg, - says Anna Nikandrova, regional director of retail real estate at Colliers International. - Scandinavian chains often enter the Russian market through the Northern capital. However, with all the saturation of St. Petersburg with retail space, there are very few projects that meet their requirements for opening a flagship, and there is a waiting list among potential tenants in them. According to our estimates, in 2014 one of the most demanded objects for the opening of the flagship will be the Europolis shopping and entertainment center, ”she sums up.
