According to the results of 2014, the volume of the Internet retail market in Russia will exceed 700 billion rubles, the indicator will increase by 28% year-on-year. This is stated in a study by the Association of Internet Commerce Companies (AKIT) on the results of the first half of e-commerce in the Russian Federation.
At the same time, by 2015, the sales volume of Russian online retail will exceed 1 trillion rubles. Given the fact that in 2013 the figure was 544 billion rubles, AKIT experts expect e-commerce to double in two years.
Russia is the leader in Europe in the number of Internet users (70,7 million people). However, only half of them make online purchases (in the European Union the figure is 60%, in the USA - more than 70%, Great Britain - more than 80%).
Most of all purchases in online stores are made by residents of the Central Federal District. Sites of trading platforms are visited by 60% of all Internet buyers, among which Yandex.Market occupies a dominant position.
More than 18 million people in Russia choose goods and stores on Yandex, the second most popular aggregator of goods from online stores is Goods @ Mail.
The share of payment for goods on the Internet in cash is 69%, the average check is about $ 75. In RuNet in the first half of 2014, there were approximately 40 thousand stores.
