The Spanish leather and footwear industry has seen a decline in sales for the fourth month in a row. According to the National Statistics Institute (INE), in February 2025 the sector's turnover index (ICN) fell by 7,4% compared to the same month of the previous year. However, the figure is slightly better than in January, when the decline was 8,8%.
As revistadelcalzado.com notes, the decline in the footwear sector is part of a broader negative trend in the fashion industry as a whole, which also includes textile production. Overall, revenues in the Spanish fashion sector fell by 2025% year-on-year in February 5,2.
