In Spain, the growth of the turnover of the footwear industry

The Spanish footwear sector continues to grow. In the first quarter of 2022, its turnover grew by 25,5% compared to the same period in 2021, according to Worldfootwear.com.

According to the Spanish Institute of Statistics (INE), the turnover index (ICN)* for the leather and footwear industry increased by 28,2% in March 2022 compared to the same month last year and by 2,2% compared to the previous month. Thus, the total average turnover achieved between January and March 2022 is up 25,5% compared to the first quarter of 2021.

The same data also indicates that the turnover of the fashion sector, which includes the segments of textiles, clothing, footwear and leather, grew by 11,1% in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period last year.

It is noted that the Turnover Index (ICN) is a short-term indicator that measures the monthly dynamics of the turnover of all industries, with the exception of construction, by surveying more than 11 industrial enterprises located throughout Spain.
