Nike's London flagship launches robots to clean and repair sneakers

Nike has unveiled the Bot Imitated Longevity Lab (BILL) robotic shoe cleaning and repair system at its Nike Town London store.

The BILL system uses water-based cleaners and recycled polyester patches to breathe new life into old shoes. So far, the renovation is available for four models of Nike sneakers - Air Force 1, Air Jordan 1, Space Hippie 01 and Nike Dunks.

The robot first creates a XNUMXD digital model of the shoe to pinpoint the areas that need to be cleaned. Then a deep cleaning process is started using water-based products and rotating brushes similar to car washes.

Once the shoes are nice and clean, buyers can opt for patches to repair the worn areas of the upper. At the end of the procedure, the cleaned sneakers receive new insoles and laces made from recycled materials. The whole process takes about 45 minutes and is completely free for buyers.
