Sustainable Thinking Exhibition at Salvatore Ferragamo Museum in Florence

In a trend towards informed consumption and green production, Italian fashion house Salvatore Ferragamo presented the Sustainable Thinking exhibition, the name of which can be interpreted as Long-term Thinking, which refers to the brand’s commitment to various eco-technologies.

Among the exhibits of the exhibition is a collection of shoes and accessories from innovative environmentally friendly materials, for example, rubber dyed with natural dyes, recycled plastic, raffia, cork and others. Shown here are shoe models created by Salvatore Ferragamo from 1920-1950. , as well as later samples that can be attributed to eco-conscious fashion.

The 1920 master experimented with various alternative materials to create fashionable shoes and clothes. A fresh exhibit was the new 42 Degrees shoe collection, in which the main element is the brand symbol of the fashion house - a rainbow that first appeared in the brand’s collection in 1938.

In the 42 Degrees capsule, the rainbow is present on sneakers, tote and backpack. The collection's key materials are natural rubber dyed with sustainable dyes, fabrics made from recycled plastics, and a mixture of corn, wool and stored hibiscus. Prices for the new eco-collection range from 38679 rubles for sneakers to 68624 rubles for a shopper bag.

The exhibition at the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum will run until March 2020. Part of the exhibition is also presented in the museums of Florence, Palazzo Vecchio and Novecento.
