Employees of the Internal Affairs Directorate in the Central District of Moscow arrested 550 pairs of counterfeit New Balance sneakers in one of the capital’s stores, totaling 4,42 million rubles, RNS reports citing information from BrandMonitor, which deals with the suppression of the illegal use of trademarks and the official New Balance distributor in Russian company DamilCo.
According to BrandMonitor CEO Yuri Vopilov, their company has repeatedly contacted the store’s website owners to stop selling counterfeit goods, but the request was ignored, after which BrandMonitor representatives contacted the police.
