Mathieu Blasi's debut collection for Chanel, unveiled in Paris on Monday, reimagined the French fashion house's classic shoe styles.
The designer experimented with the proportions of classic open-toe pumps, in some cases subtly emphasizing the toe. The shoes were presented in a variety of color combinations, including the classic beige with a black toe, reminiscent of the palette of slingbacks created by Coco Chanel in collaboration with Parisian shoemaker Raymond Massaro. This design, first introduced in 1957, became the brand's signature.
Another shoe design featured layering and cutouts, with a triangular strap wrapping around the foot, the lines of which were accentuated by contrasting trim.
The collection was rounded out by square-toe pumps, square-toe mules with trim, and the D'orsay model with a graceful line at the toe. Another striking detail was the slingback pumps in a vibrant black and red colorway.
