The number of registrations of trademarks in the Cyrillic alphabet is growing in Russia

According to Online Patent, in the first half of 2024, the demand for registration of trademarks in Cyrillic increased by 25% to 24,7 thousand applications submitted by applicants from 41 countries, writes New-Retail.ru

In terms of the number of applications submitted, Russia (24266 applications), the Republic of Belarus (115), China (59) and the USA (34) stand out.

In the first six months of 2023, 19,9 thousand such applications were submitted, and in total over the past year - 35,7 thousand.

Online Patent explains the increase in the number of registrations of trademarks in the Cyrillic alphabet by the growth of consumer confidence in domestic products.

However, the total number of applications for registration of trademarks in the Latin alphabet in Russia continues to prevail - in total, in 2023, 62,7 thousand applications were filed for registration of trademarks in the Latin alphabet, and in the first six months of 2024 - 41,2 thousand.
