In view of the refusal of a number of Western companies to export their goods to Russia, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation is preparing a bill to abolish liability for "parallel imports", that is, for importing goods into the country without the permission of the copyright holder, the Izvestia newspaper writes, citing information from the department.
The cancellation of responsibility for parallel imports will not affect all products, but only goods that are necessary to saturate the consumer market, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation specified.
Currently, there is a law in Russia according to which for the importation of goods into the country without the appropriate permission of the copyright holder, the obligation to pay compensation to the copyright holder in the amount of up to 5 million rubles is provided for by the court, it is also assumed that the goods must be destroyed.
According to experts, "parallel imports" will bypass the ban on the import of goods into Russia. At the same time, there is no threat of an increase in counterfeit products, since the norms and requirements for the safety and quality of products and permits remain in force.
