Analysts from the consulting company NF Group analyzed the structure of tenants on Arbat Street in Moscow. According to the study, at the end of September 2023, the share of vacant retail space in the street retail format was the lowest in the last four years and amounted to 5%. The main tenants on Arbat are catering establishments (51%) and gift/souvenir shops (14%).
Arbat is one of the most visited streets in Moscow by tourists, which is why it remains the focus of attention for retailers. The recognition and popularity of the street attracts both large brands and small entrepreneurs who want to open their own shops, restaurants and cafes.
The number of vacant spaces on Arbat is decreasing every year. Today, the vacancy rate is 5%, having decreased by 7 percentage points. in nine months. This value is one of the lowest on the central streets of Moscow. This downward trend in vacancy indicates high demand for retail outlets in this historic area of the city.
The reduction in vacant space on Arbat is due to the active development of retail. The main tenants on Arbat are catering establishments (51%) and gift/souvenir shops (14%). The smallest share among tenants is occupied by representatives of the categories “pharmacy/optics,” “banks,” “beauty salons,” and “clothing and shoe stores.” Each of them accounts for 1% of all retail space on Arbat. In particular, on the most popular pedestrian street of the capital, for many years now there has been a brand store of the Russian shoe brand Ekonika.
