Vestiaire Collective Releases Luxury Second Hand Guide and Rating

French resale platform Vestiaire Collective, which specializes in the sale of goods between private individuals, released a guide to buying luxury second-hand goods on April 14, Fashionnetwork reports.

The study analyses the second-hand market and shows which brands and fashion items influence the resale market each season.

“This report highlights that resale is no longer an afterthought, but is defining how consumers access luxury and designer fashion,” Vestiaire Collective co-founder and fashion director Sophie Hersan said in a statement.

The vintage market is not just a passing fad, it is experiencing significant growth.

In its research, Vestiaire Collective highlights that since 2020, the company has recorded a 220% increase in the supply of second-hand goods and an 80% increase in sales, reflecting the growing demand for quality second-hand goods.

Vestiaire Collective has released its "Vestiaire Value Ranking" based on the criteria of price, demand and long-term value of the brand's products. The sample includes more than 400 brands.

In the popular luxury section of Vestiaire Collective, prices for second-hand luxury items are about 30% lower than retail prices for the same items. Chanel tops the list (with the most views per product), followed by Louis Vuitton and Hermès.

Although Italian brand Gucci ranks fourth in the top 2025, it is the leader in terms of sales in the first quarter of 36, when at least 000 products were sold on the platform. In addition, Vestiaire Collective notes that over the past five years, the resale value of products from the houses of Dior and Prada has increased by 12% and 11%, respectively.

In the designer brands segment, the top ten is led by Italian brand Moncler, followed by The Row, which has boasted a compound annual growth rate of 27% over the past five years. In third place is Brunello Cucinelli.

Jacquemus has seen a decline in demand (-3 positions) “due to a lack of innovation”, but it is the best-selling brand on the platform (10 offers per product, while the average for the entire ranking is 6).

Finally, in the premium brands category, Golden Goose takes first place, followed by Coach and Etro.

French resale platform Vestiaire Collective, which specializes in private-to-private sales, released a luxury second-hand shopping guide on April 14.
