The positive forecast is based on the fact that exports in the first half of the year exceeded $6,5 billion, which is 5,7% more than the same period last year.
The association's vice president and secretary general, Phan Thi Thanh Xuan, told local media that the industry is focusing on its core markets of the US, EU, Japan, the Republic of Korea and China, but is also working to grow in other countries, especially those that have signed agreements free trade with Vietnam.
Xuan also said that in the future the industry intends to focus on developing products in the mid- and high-price segments.
According to the World Footwear 2023 Analytical Yearbook, Vietnam is the second largest exporter of shoes in the world. The first half of 2022 was the busiest for the industry, but the second half saw a significant slowdown. However, exports reached a new record level, surpassing the $30 billion mark.
