French fashion house Chanel is parting ways with its creative director Virginie Viard after thirty years of collaboration, an official announcement was made Wednesday evening.
Having joined Chanel nearly three decades ago, Virginie Viard, a loyal assistant to Karl Lagerfeld, took over as creative director of the fashion house in 2019 after the designer's death.
“Chanel confirms the departure of Virginie Viard after a fruitful five-year collaboration as creative director of fashion collections, during which she was able to update the codes of the house, while respecting the creative heritage of Chanel, and almost thirty years of work at the house,” Chanel said in a succinct statement.
