Virtual shoe fitting is becoming more affordable

One of the obstacles to the active development of online shoe sales is the difficulty of acquiring this product without trying on. However, technology does not stand still. In Spain, they developed a smartphone application that allows anyone to easily create an 3-D foot model for virtual fitting, writes e-pepper.ru.

Professor Juan Carlos González from the Institute of Biomechanics of the City of Valencia (Spain) has developed a special smartphone application that allows you to create an 3D model of your own leg with just three shots. Thanks to this technology, any smartphone can turn into a kind of 3D scanner. The user needs to place his foot on a white sheet of A4 paper, photograph the stack from above, on the left and right sides. The application itself will create an 3D model by comparing the resulting photos with three-dimensional images of the feet from its database.

In addition to creating an 3D model, the application gives the user even more 20 parameters of his foot, which help in choosing shoes. A three-dimensional image can be uploaded to the online store and thus virtually “try on” your favorite shoe model.

The Spanish researcher also developed the standalone device DOMEscan, which determines the parameters of the foot, which can be used in shoe stores.

An electronic cast of your foot can also be obtained using the Mifitto service, which recently released applications for iPhone and Android.

In Russia, a foot modeling service is provided by Tryfit Technologies Limited. The company leases to retail stores operating in Russia the TRY.FIT device (three-dimensional scanner and mobile application), with the help of which any retail client can scan the foot on the spot and get its 3D model developed according to 12 parameters.
