Around the world, Louis Vuitton boutique windows now display fuzzy transverse multicolored stripes and the slogan "Virgil was here." The luxury brand thus pays tribute to its creative director, talented designer Virgil Abloh, who died of cancer on November 28 at the age of 41.
Louis Vuitton began installing the displays on December 3, and most of the brand's boutique displays were set up by Monday, when a funeral took place in Abloh's hometown of Chicago.
Boutiques in Moscow, New York, Seoul, Tokyo, Osaka, London, Taipei, Los Angeles, Chicago, Singapore, Istanbul, Sydney, Bangkok, Milan and Madrid are decorated with versions of Virgil's Sky in warm colors. The rich colors reproduce the background used for the windows of Virgil Abloh's debut collection for Louis Vuitton in 2019, inspired by the fairy tale "The Wizard of Oz".
