The S-Tep factory, part of the OR Group, is challenging its bankruptcy
The S-Tep shoe factory (part of the Or Group) in Berdsk, Novosibirsk region, appealed the introduction of bankruptcy proceedings at the enterprise at the request of Sberbank, reports TASS.
According to information from the file of arbitration cases, the appeal filed by the company was accepted for proceedings. A hearing on the case in the Seventh Arbitration Court of Appeal in Tomsk is scheduled for December 13.
Production at the factory has been stopped since August 1, 2022 by OR Group in order to optimize costs. In October of the same year, bankruptcy proceedings were introduced at the factory. The company owes the applicant more than 1,3 billion rubles.
The S-Tep factory specializes in sewing special-purpose footwear, and the regional authorities were hoping to restart production and were looking for an investor. This was achieved in April 2023. A tenant, Vector LLC, appeared at the factory. The regional authorities sent an appeal to the main creditor, VTB, in order to consider the possibility of concluding a long-term lease agreement with the Vector company with the right to buy.
The owner of the shoe factory, OR Group (Former Obuv Rossii Group of Companies), was declared bankrupt in October 2022. The company owes creditors and counterparties more than 7 billion rubles. The group's creditors include large banks (VTB, Promsvyazbank, Sberbank), contractor companies (Megapolis LLC, TEK-Magistral LLC), as well as individuals Alexander and Yulia Zozulya, Evgeny Kuzmichev).
