Wildberries buys Bank Standard-Credit

The largest Russian online retailer acquires a small bank "Standard-Credit" in order to implement card loyalty programs on its basis, including gift cards, as well as make settlements with suppliers of goods presented on the site, "Kommersant writes with reference to the information sources familiar with the situation.

The Wildberries company did not comment on the information about the planned purchase of the bank, saying only that "they are considering the development of financial services on the online platform - both for buyers and entrepreneurs, in order to make Wildberries even more convenient and useful." Bank "Standard-Credit" is not ready to comment on this information yet. Nevertheless, market experts believe that for an online retailer, having its own bank is quite justified, while buying a ready-made player has advantages over creating its own bank from scratch.
