Infoline analytic agency compared the revenue of major players in the Russian fashion market for the first six months of 2019 and notes that the former leader of the Sportmaster group is inferior to the online retailer Wildberries in this indicator. Thus, the online store for the first time becomes a leader in the fashion retail segment, writes Kommersant.
So the Sportmaster group in January-June 2019 received 51,5 billion rubles. revenue, and the sales turnover of the Wildberries online store for this period amounted to 85 billion rubles.
According to Infoline, the revenue of Sportmaster Group, the largest operator of the Russian fashion market in 2018, grew by 6 – 7%, while the Wildberries online store increased its turnover by 79%.
Clothes, footwear and accessories in Wildberries' turnover accounted for about 73% of sales, or 62,4 billion rubles.
As Infoline points out, the Sportmaster group has been the leader of the Russian fashion market for many years, but recently the group's revenue has increased mainly due to the opening of new stores: in 2018, the retail space of the chain grew by 12%, to 428 thousand square meters. m. According to the Sportmaster group, its retail network has more than 500 stores in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and China. In addition to the retail group of the same name, the group operates the Columbia and Skechers franchise chains, the owners of the group also develop O`stin and FunDay stores. Wildberries Development Director Vyacheslav Ivaschenko associates a significant increase in the online platform's turnover with the emergence of new brands, including Marks & Spencer, Hogl, etc. The company also became the exclusive online seller of Mexx in Russia and entered into an agreement for direct deliveries of the Bugatti brand. The pool of Wildberries suppliers has doubled, to 13,5 thousand companies.
