Wildberries will launch anti-counterfeit protection service

The Wildberries online retailer is completing the development of the Digital Arbitration service, which will protect copyright holders from unfair actions of other sellers, and buyers from possible counterfeit products. The launch of the service is scheduled for August 2022.

"Digital Arbitration" will allow copyright holders to interact promptly and directly with other sellers: create official appeals when there are assumptions about the violation of their intellectual property rights and independently conduct verification of title documents.

After verification by the copyright holder and confirmation of the legality of the sale of goods in the new Wildberries service, the fact of the absence of violations by another seller will be recorded. In the event that title documents are not provided or they are unreliable, Wildberries will hide such goods from the online storefront, and in case of repeated and massive violations, a complete suspension of cooperation with this seller is also possible.

"Digital Arbitrage" is a revolutionary solution in the online retail segment: it will significantly enhance the protection of the interests of copyright holders and buyers. If earlier correspondence with potential violators through their official channels could take a long time and did not always lead to a resolution of the problem situation, then thanks to the new service, disputes can be resolved in a few days. In addition, “Digital Arbitrage” will make the product “showcase” of the online platform even more transparent, and will protect buyers from possible counterfeit products,” the Wildberries press service said.

The right holder retains the right to seek compensation from the seller for violation of intellectual property rights in court. Correspondence with an unscrupulous seller in the new Wildberries service can be used in court as confirmation of the validity of the rights holder's claims.

Wildberries will monitor the interaction between rights holders and sellers and take the necessary response measures.

Earlier, the online platform launched an automatic system for monitoring illegal products based on artificial intelligence, which analyzes product cards, photos, reviews, and blocks suspicious products.
