WORTMANN: company turnover for the first time exceeded 800 million euros

The Wortmann group of companies from the German city of Detmold successfully coped with the crisis of last year. It increased its turnover for the past financial 2009 / 2010 (as of May 31) to 832,1 million euros (last year it amounted to 798,9 million euros). Thus, for the first time, the company managed to exceed the bar of 800 million euros. The company has achieved particularly great success in Germany. Here the turnover grew by more than 10%. In some foreign markets, in particular in the branded retail sector in Asia, the company suffered losses. The export share slightly decreased to 51,8% (in 2009, it amounted to 53,9%).

With the orders received this year, Wortmann is again looking forward to profit growth - consumer demand is seen in all markets. In Germany alone, in the first seven months of 2010, the increase in turnover in the footwear retail sector in Germany was about 4%.

The Tamaris system partnership is in great demand among shoe sellers: there are already working 359 Tamaris operating retail space (in March 2010 there were 261 of them), of which 139 were single-brand stores (in March there were 122) and 220 shops-in-store (in March there were 139 ) The total number of Tamaris retail space is 405 stores. This corresponds to an increase in 44% compared to last year.

Wortmann has its own representative offices in eleven European cities, and another eleven representative offices operate in the Far East.  In total, the company employs 868 employees around the world (in 2009 there were 820), of which 487 is in Europe.  30 thousand workers are producing shoes for the Wortmann group of companies around the world.  Wortmann European Offices Increase Its Fashion Sales To 26,8  million pairs  In the standard footwear segment, the sales volume of the group of companies amounted to 39 million pairs. This rightfully makes Wortmann  the undisputed leader in sales of fashionable women's shoes in Europe. The European subsidiaries of Wortmann include brands such as Tamaris, Marco Tozzi, Caprice, Jana and s.Oliver. In Asia, Wortmann is represented by Novi Footwear (Far East) Ltd in Hong Kong and Singapore. Wortmann Group collections are available in more than 70 countries and in more than 14 000 outlets around the world.
