Shoe chain Primorosso has closed 90 stores. Currently, the chain's management company has come under the control of the Kazan shoe factory "Spartak". Since 2013, Primorosso has been owned by the IFC Tatink.
Jofficial representatives of "Spartak" and Tatfondbank declined to comment on the reasons for the closure. Currently, there are five chain stores left to operate (in Ulyanovsk, Togliatti, Moscow and two in Ryazan).
According to market experts, the network's problems are associated with the wrong choice of shoe brand and segment. Imports of footwear fell by 20% compared to last year, the level of production in Russia decreased by the same amount, sales in general fell by 30%, says Alexandra Andrunakievich, general director of the Russian Union of Leatherworkers and Shoemakers. In these conditions, networks operating in the premium segment are becoming the most vulnerable, she said.
The Primorosso network was launched by Tatfondbank shareholders in 2013. At the time of launch, the company planned to open 50 stores each year, merge 2017 trading floors by 250, and in 2018 become the largest shoe network in Russia with an annual turnover of 9 billion rubles.
