German online retailer Zalando has launched a test virtual fitting room on its online platform, which is available in markets in 25 countries and offers products to millions of users, according to Worldfootwear.com.
Zalando's virtual fitting room allows customers to create a 22D avatar of their height, weight and gender so they can try on different sizes of jeans from different brands (30 in total) with an indicator showing where the item is tight or loose. This experiment follows successful trials of similar pilots where platform users tried on Puma and Zalando's own brand Anna Field. More than 000 buyers were involved in them.
“Our goal in these pilot campaigns is to learn and understand how customers interact with this new technology so that we can develop a seamless, scalable solution for the future. We are already seeing customer engagement with these campaigns on the rise, and in fact, about half of customers are trying on more than one size per avatar,” explains Stacia Carr, vice president of size and fit at Zalando.
The retailer emphasizes that Zalando is the only European fashion e-commerce platform that has a dedicated sizing and fitting team.
