President of the Russian Council of Shopping Centers (RSTC) Dmitry Moskalenko spoke about the ongoing negotiations between Russia and Turkey to replace the brands leaving Russia with fashion brands of clothing and footwear from Turkey, RBC writes with reference to an article in the Turkish newspaper Hürriyet.
Negotiations on the expansion of Turkish fashion brands to the Russian market were held in mid-May during a visit to Russia by the Turkish United Brands Association (BMD).
“For Turkish brands that are not yet in Russia, we offered the opportunity to occupy the best shopping centers, including Moscow ones. We are negotiating so that Turkish companies stay in Russia for a long time and make profitable investments,” commented Dmitry Moskalenko, President of the Russian Council of Shopping Centers.
According to him, as early as the fall of 2022, up to 3 million square meters of space may become vacant in Russian shopping centers. It is Turkish companies that may be the main contenders for the replacement of foreign brands. The Russian Federation is also negotiating with companies from China, India and Iran.
