When the Clarks Wallabee boot model was presented to the general public at an exhibition in Boston in 1964, its creators could not assume that this model would become an integral part of the music subculture in the future.
Clarks' Wallabee is a combination of moccasins and a thick sole made from natural rubber. This design is characteristic of the Clarks brand concept that arose in the 80s of the XIX century, when William Clark got the idea to create practical, high-quality and comfortable shoes that is ideal in all respects.
In the 1965 year, immediately after entering stores, Wallabee became a bestseller, and Clarks has consistently included the model in new seasonal collections for decades.
In the 70s, the Wallabee model was extremely popular in North America and became a real hit in Jamaica among Rude boys, it is part of their uniform. Due to the influx of Jamaican immigrants to New York in the 80's, these shoes were in demand among the adherents of the nascent rap trend. Wallabee has become a favorite of the Wu-Tang clan, which is still an icon of rap culture.
In 1993, Wu-Tang released the Enter 36 Chambers album, and all the 10 musicians of the group not only loved and wore the Wallabee, they also sang their favorite shoes in their songs.

So, at the end of May 2019, Supreme and Clarks Originals launched a collaboration with four updated versions of the cult silhouette from Clarks Originals - Wallabee. Models are available online, as well as at Supreme stores in New York, Brooklyn, Los Angeles, London and Paris.
For the Clarks Originals fall-winter 2019 / 20 collection, the brand’s creative team launched a collaboration with their longtime friends, Wu-Tang. The musicians announced this collaboration in their own style, writing a rap about the popularly loved Wallabee, and presented models in marble colors of dark gray, chocolate, olive shade. These models will be presented in Russian retail and online in the new season.
Clarks Originals' Wallabee success story is a clear example of how a long history archive item can become a commercially successful item, remaining an icon of style and replenishing its fans every day.
