European media cite the recent rather rude statement by Birkenstock CEO Oliver Reichert about the refusal of the German brand of comfortable shoes to collaborate with fashion brands Supreme and Vetements.
In an interview with The Cut magazine, Reichert called collaboration with fashion brands prostitution and stated that Supreme and Vetements customers are already familiar with Birkenstock shoes, so there is no need for such promotion. In addition, the head of the German company added that design is not a priority for the Birkenstock brand.
This statement is contrary to the fact that at the beginning of this year Birkenstock released collaboration with California-based designer Rick Owens, and also collaborated with the iconic Parisian boutique Colette.
