The management of Adidas decided to transfer part of the production of sports shoes back to Germany to the Speed Factory in Bavaria, Deutsche Welle reports. In this case, exclusively robots will be engaged in tailoring the sneaker.
Production starts with the release of the first 500 pairs of sneakers. In the future, the German concern expects to bring the volume of sneakers to 500 thousand pairs. It is assumed that this figure can be reached in 2017. According to Adidas Development Director Herdz Manz, the transfer of production to Germany will allow the company to reduce the time it takes to develop new products from six months to several days. At the same time, the use of new technologies will not affect the cost of goods in retail.
