Ozon decided to abandon its own trade in shoes and clothing on Sapato.ru

Ozon, a large Russian Internet retailer, decided to abandon independent trade in footwear and clothing on the Sapato.ru platform. Very soon Sapato.ru will operate as a trading platform where goods from other sellers will be sold - mainly footwear of the middle and slightly more expensive segments.

“The transition to the marketplace will be gradual,” says Mael Gave, CEO of Ozon holding. The goal is to bring the share of other sellers to 100% in revenue, she notes. Ozon can fully ensure the execution of orders for its partners - from delivery to handover to the client.

Ozon bought Sapato.ru about two years ago. Then the main reasons for the purchase of Sapato.ru were called "loyal and active customer base" and "high brand recognition."

Among the reasons why Ozon decided to abandon its own footwear trade is the opportunity to save on costs when purchasing goods and processing orders, while increasing the range, says Gave.
