Nearly 1300 shoe companies showcase new trends at GDS

More than 1290 shoe companies presented the Spring-Summer 2012 trends at the GDS international footwear exhibition in Dusseldorf from 7 to 9 September. Compared to September last year, the number of exhibitors increased by 9%. Geox, Farrutx, Fratelli Rossetti and Salamander returned to GDS. The debutants were John Varvatos (USA), John Fluevog (Canada), Heschung (France), Kat Maconie (UK), Fonnesberg (Denmark) and Halmanera (Italy).

According to polls at the exhibition, about 36% of visitors came to find new suppliers, 25% are interested in new brand offers. Almost 24 thousand buyers came from abroad, all in all, the exhibition was visited by guests from 77 countries.

However, the current economic uncertainty in the Eurozone was reflected in the fact that at the September exhibition at 4% of visitors are less than in March 2011 of the year.
 
“We used and are using GDS to meet with international retailers. And we are very pleased with the number of visits to our booth, ”says Andreas Schaller, Lloyd CEO.

Among the major buyers at the exhibition were Up a tree from Denmark, Printemps from France, Calzados Bravo from Spain, GUM from Russia.

The guest star this season was model Ana Mikhailovich. She has worked in Milan, Paris and New York with Dolce & Gabbana, Givenchy, Marc Jacobs, Prada, Christian Dior. At GDS, Anna opened the Upper Style Show.

Soul star Cassandra Steen gave an exclusive concert at Clarks booth. And at the stand of the Romika brand, visitors could get autographs from the most famous German blonde, Daniela Katzenberger, a TV presenter. Now she designs shoes and presented her two collections at the Romika booth.
