Italian Business Information Agency Satra compiled a list of the largest shoe-making countries. China is in first place - 10 billion pairs a year and a global market share of 63%. In second place is India - 909 million pairs per year and 5,72%. This is followed by Brazil (816 million pairs), Vietnam (715 million pairs), Indonesia (597 million pairs), Pakistan (280 million pairs), Thailand (255 million pairs), Italy (225,2 million pairs). Each of the countries specializes in a certain type of footwear. For example, China produces mass-market casual shoes, India specializes in textile footwear, Brazil specializes in fashionshoes at affordable prices.
The United States remains the largest consumer of shoes (official imports are 2,2 billion pairs), followed by Japan and Germany. On the Old Continent, the countries of Eastern Europe became the leaders of consumption - 2,35 billion pairs. China sells 1,9 billion pairs domestically, India - 880 million pairs.
