The Japanese brand ASICS, one of the world's largest manufacturers of sportswear and shoes, bought RunKeeper, a popular smartphone application with the iOs and Android operating systems to track the training process. ASICS jogging shoes are very popular among RunKeeper users, so such an acquisition seems like a logical step. This is not the first combination of a fitness platform and a sports brand - Adidas previously acquired Runtastic, Under Armor - MyFitnessPal and Endomondo, and Nike has a Fuel Band.
