According to the forecasts of the Spanish Institute of International Trade (ICEX), in the season "Fall-Winter 2009/2010" we are threatened with ankle boots, pointed noses and platforms. This theory has been supported by manufacturers such as Pons Quintana, Ras, Magrit, Laura Amat and Salord Jover. These brands also preferred black, purple and brown colors. Their new collections could be seen at the MODACALZADO + IBERPIEL exhibition of footwear and leather goods, which took place in March in Madrid.
The exhibition is held twice a year by the Association of Spanish shoe manufacturers IFEMA in the large exhibition center Feria de Madrid. This season, the forum was attended by representatives of 350 companies and 700 brands. Most of the visitors were from Germany, Argentina, Austria, Belgium, France, Italy, Great Britain, Brazil and the USA. To increase the number of foreign buyers, the Chamber of Commerce of Madrid and ICEX have been organizing a special buyer program for several years now, inviting foreign specialists and paying for their stay at the exhibition. This year, 50 buyers from Russia, Ukraine, Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary became participants in the program.
The novelty of the season was the IDEASLAB Idea Lab section, designed to help business representatives competently review their policies in the current economic conditions and increase the attractiveness of their brand. Among other pleasures, IDEASLAB gave businessmen a chance to participate in the “Design Your Own Store” workshop, where shoe makers presented sketches of their dream stores. The experts from the European Design Institute (IED) helped them to think through the design of windows, shelves and the interior.
The Elda Shoe Museum during the exhibition held a competition for the best sketch of shoes and bags, and potential buyers were able to "spot" evaluate the prospects of the ideas of beginning designers.
Season trends
From materials in the autumn-winter season, suede and twinned leather will be popular. The mix of styles will leave an imprint of ballet pointe shoes on sneakers and rocker boots on the Cossacks.
The Spaniards promise that the authority of medium-sized bags and rectangular briefcases, as well as baggy shapeless trunks, will soar into the sky.
