Adidas continues to move towards sustainable manufacturing. Since 2015, adidas has produced over 30 million pairs of running shoes from Parley Ocean Plastic - recycled plastic waste collected from coastal areas and doesn't want to stop there.
The brand will host the worldwide Run For The Oceans from May 28 to June 8. For every kilometer run by the runners, adidas and Parley will recycle plastic waste equivalent to 10 plastic bottles, up to a total of 227 kilograms of plastic. To participate in the initiative, you must register with the adidas Running app and track your runs.
In Moscow, a special plogging run in support of the Run For the Oceans project will be held on May 29, detailed information about the run can be found on adidas social networks.
The adidas and Parley Charity Run has already brought together more than 3 million runners worldwide, covering 25,5 million kilometers together. Run For The Oceans helped raise $ 2,5 million for the Parley Foundation to develop environmental education programs and initiatives to tackle ocean pollution. 92 schools joined the Parley program in 2019 as educational centers and plastic waste collection points for local communities. 70 children and their parents took part in the program. Adidas plans to reach 000 million members by 2025.
