John Galliano and Christian Louboutin created the Tabi collection for Maison Margiela

Maison Margiela creative director John Galliano and French shoe designer Christian Louboutin released a shoe collaboration that was included in the Maison Margiela Artisanal spring 2024 couture collection. The design duo created six versions of the Tabi shoe. All shoe models in the collection have a split toe - a characteristic touch of the signature Tabi shoe model of the Maison Margiela brand. And Christian Louboutin gave the shoe its signature red sole.

The collaboration was presented in a theatrical runway show at Paris Fashion Week on Thursday, January 25th.

In the updated version, the Tabi shoes from Margiela x Louboutin have acquired an even more animalistic image due to the increased volume of the heel. The shape of the silhouette became even closer to the outline of the hooves. The height of the heels of the shoes is 12 cm, and the leather upper is available in three color options - monochrome black, white and beige. There is also an option for shoes with an emerald-colored velvet top.

The collection also includes Tabi ankle strap shoes in black neoprene, pink or emerald velvet and lizard-textured faux leather; Tabi knee-high boots in reverse-dyed pony leather; Tabi lace-up derby in black leather and leopard print neoprene.

The collaboration was completed with Tabi lace-up boots and Tabi brogues in black leather or black crocodile-embossed leather, as well as stiletto heeled pumps with an ankle strap.

Margiela first released tabi shoes, inspired by traditional Japanese footwear, in the 1980s. This silhouette has become the hallmark of the brand. Tabi shoes from Margiela x Louboutin became an adornment of the chic couture collection of Maison Margiela spring 2024, presented in a bright theatrical show in the style of Parisian cabarets of the beginning of the last century, with a touch of voyeurism.
