"Honest Sign" recorded a 15% increase in shoe prices in 2023

According to the state labeling system “Honest Sign”, average prices for shoes in Russia increased by 15% over the year: in October 2023, the average price of a pair of shoes was 3 rubles, and in the same period in 274 – 2022 rubles.

As analysts of the mandatory labeling operator note, the minimum average price for shoes in 2023 was fixed in June - 2 rubles. This is primarily due to seasonal changes in the structure of demand: in the summer, sandals and flip-flops are more often purchased, the price of which is lower than shoes and boots, the demand for which increases in the autumn.

In October 2023, the largest price change was recorded in the sandals category, with prices falling by 38% compared to the weighted average price in the same month last year. In October 2023, sandals cost an average of 1 rubles, and in October 897 - 2022 rubles.

Also over the year, the price of slippers increased by 30% - 630 rubles in October 2023 versus 484 rubles in October 2022. On the contrary, prices for sneakers decreased over the year by 29% (3 rubles in October 976, while in October 2023 sneakers were purchased on average for 2022 rubles). As experts explain, the departure of some European brands from the Russian market has freed up niches for new, mainly Asian brands with more attractive prices. Over the year, supply on the shoe market increased by almost 5%. The structure of demand has also changed - a significant part of consumers are guided by price when choosing sneakers.

The same annual increase of 15% in the average price for purchasing shoes is noted on the Lamoda marketplace, a platform that specializes in selling fashion products. Year on year, the average cost of shoes on the Lamoda online platform increased by 15%. At the same time, the increase in the average price in the sports shoes category was less and amounted to 10%. “We see a positive trend in shoe demand on our platform: sales growth was 50% compared to a year earlier. The leaders among users remain sneakers, sneakers and boots,” Lamoda notes.

The Top 5 most popular shoe brands on Lamoda include: PUMA, Reebok, Ecco, adidas Originals, Nike. In the premium segment, the top five best-selling footwear brands on the marketplace included Ekonika Premium, Boss, Armani Exchange, Karl Lagerfeld, Hugo.
