The company announced the opening of a new production site equipped with robotics in Somerset. The enterprise will be engaged in tailoring classic Clarks boots of deserts in the amount of 300 thousand pairs per year, reports BBC.
The company began to sew shoes in this county as early as 1825, but in 2005 production was moved to the countries of the Far East.
Currently, Clarks deserts are produced in Vietnam and India. A company spokesman said the company will maintain the existing supply chain.
The last Clarks factory in the UK (in the city of Cumbria, Milo County) closed back in 2006.
