Detsky Mir Group notes an explosive growth in online sales in April 2020. The turnover of the Detsky Mir online store and mobile application increased 3,8 times year-on-year to 3,3 billion rubles (including VAT), 1,9 million orders for children's goods were delivered to Russia.
The leaders in Internet sales during the period of self-isolation were such categories as “Clothing and shoes” (+ 480%), “Baby food” (+ 436%) and “Toys” (+ 326%).
The company notes that during the period of high demand, 115 thousand orders were issued per day, a larger volume of the retailer recorded only on the day of the Black Friday promotion (124 thousand orders). The share of online sales in the total revenue of the Detsky Mir network in Russia increased almost 5 times year to year to 42%.
The most active online buyers were residents of Moscow, St. Petersburg Samara, Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod.
In April, in the face of a difficult epidemiological situation in the country, an increased demand for courier delivery of online orders was recorded. By the end of the month, the share of this channel’s turnover reached almost 30% of the entire online segment. More than 70% of online revenue was made up of self-delivery of online orders from Detsky Mir retail stores.
As of May 20, 2020, most of the Group’s stores in Russia continue to operate, 62 of 729 Detsky Mir chain stores are temporarily closed. In Kazakhstan, 30 of the 38 stores of the chain are temporarily closed, while in 13 closed stores, places for issuing orders for the Detsky Mir online store are organized. Belarusian network Detmir continues to operate as usual.
According to the results of April 2020, the volume of unaudited revenue of Detsky Mir Group, taking into account the online segment, decreased by 20% year-on-year to 7,5 billion rubles. At the same time, the group’s turnover in the first 18 days of May 2020 increased by 2% year-on-year, taking into account temporarily closed stores.
Director General of Detsky Mir PJSC Maria Davydova noted that by the third quarter of this year, the company plans to implement a full-scale launch of a children's products marketplace, as well as strengthen its logistics infrastructure, opening the first regional warehouse of an online store in the Southern Federal District with an area of about 6 sq. M. m

As of March 31, 2020, the Detsky Mir chain of stores is represented by 772 stores located in 297 cities of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus, the Detmir PVZ chain has 5 stores. The ELC retail network in Russia is represented by 46 stores, the ABC network - 12 stores. The network of products for animals "Zoosaurus" is represented by 11 stores.
