In early June 2012, Manolo Blahnik opens its flagship store in the heart of Moscow in the historic GUM. The store will become one of the largest in Europe and the fourth brand store in Russia.
The interior design of the new boutique was developed by the niece of the eminent shoe maker, Christina Blahnik, together with the London architecture bureau Data Nature Associates. According to the sketches of DNA specialists, all existing brand boutiques are made. Mr. Blanik himself, who is always very attentive to the design of his stores around the world, also took part in the development of design.
The concept of design is based on the idea of contrast: against the background of dark oak wall panels, the carved lace, as if woven by famous Vologda needlewomen, stands out with its bright white, which frames the new boutique. In such an elegant way, the artists emphasized the Russian flavor of the boutique. The result is soft, elegant and at the same time fabulous surroundings. Against such an interesting background, the already iconic Manolo Blahnik boats flaunt.
Data Nature Associates co-founder Nick Leith-Smith describes the design concept as follows: “Carved lace and oak walls bring the nostalgic mood of a traditional Russian five-walled hut. Against such an unusual background, bright spectacular Manolo Blahnik shoes are intricately fixed on vertical wooden boards, as if soaring over the Russian forest. "
Puffs specially created for the boutique with sand-colored bristles, the legs of which are decorated with elements in the form of gilded leaves, fit perfectly into the interior. DNA artists also painted a soft gold-colored arch and some shoe racks, alluding to the golden domes of Orthodox churches. Designers decided to keep the marble floor and ceiling with stucco molding because of the historical value of these elements. As a result, as noted in DNA, this brought individuality and a sense of belonging to the history of GUM and Russia into the interior, which made it possible to distinguish this particular boutique from all the others in the world.
It is not surprising that Mr. Blahnik himself plans to visit Moscow on the occasion of the opening of this boutique. “I am so excited that the Manolo Blahnik boutique will open in GUM,” the maestro shared his emotions. - I adore Russia and everything connected with this great country: its history, culture, and most importantly - people. GUM is one of the oldest department stores in Moscow, and it is so wonderful to become a part of its future. "
The boutique will present new collections, as well as a limited line of models that can be purchased only in GUM. Also, especially for the opening in June, Moscow will deliver the shoes in which the main character of the movie "Twilight" Bella Swan got married. Luxurious wedding shoes with high heels and a large crystal flower on the cape attracted attention as much as the film itself. In Moscow, these shoes will start selling on the day of the official opening of Manolo Blahnik in GUM. The number of these pairs is limited, ladyshopping.ru reports.
